Angus MacKinnon, a trusted name in automotive repair, is marking a significant milestone with the opening of their new purpose-built bodyshop in Uttoxeter, taking strides toward sustainable operations. A long-standing customer of Todd Engineering, Angus MacKinnon previously operated an external Olympian spray booth at their original site. With a desire to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact, owner Stuart was inspired to incorporate Todd Engineering’s innovative Zeus all-electric spray booths after seeing their impressive performance at another facility.
The new setup includes two Zeus full downdraught spray booths. A standout feature of the Zeus technology is its far infrared curing system, which cures paint at a molecular level, allowing for quicker, more energy-efficient drying without raising panel temperatures significantly. This method improves throughput while conserving energy, making it ideal for high-performance operations like Angus MacKinnon’s. Alongside the Zeus booths, the facility also houses a dedicated paint mixing room and a high-performance compressor, creating a seamless workflow that optimizes productivity and ensures high-quality finishes with minimal environmental impact.
Stuart shared his enthusiasm about the project: “The new site required full refurbishment prior to moving in, this demanded considerable time and effort from our management team. All installation aspects relating to the booths, a compliance paint mixing room, compressed air systems and extraction were managed seamlessly by the Todd Engineering team, this very well managed installation was greatly appreciated. Their technology enables us to achieve our goals while reducing our carbon footprint. The Zeus booths have already made a positive impact on our productivity, and we eventually aim to operate the entire bodyshop on renewable energy through a solar setup, making this a truly green facility—a goal we’re excited to pursue.”
